Yes, I surprised myself that I got up that early too, after having done the 6:30 class the night before.
I usually wake up as soon as there’s sunlight in my room, which is pretty early, but getting up is an altogether different matter. I can keep tossing and turning, trying to get back to sleep until half the day is done. But I’ve had a lot on my mind the past few days and have been more than a little bit stressed about packing for France, especially since I decided that I wanted a predominantly white wardrobe on this trip (as opposed to my standard black). Risky, I know, and I’ll probably regret it as soon as I get the first wine stain but I’m stupidly, stubbornly doing it anyway. Of course, I haven’t bought any new winter clothes in years which means I only have about four white pieces… (Doh!) They might be black when I get back.

Okay, I lied a little bit in that last paragraph. I havea ton of new jackets and coats. But I can’t very well wear only jackets and coats. Unless I’m considering a career as a flasher. I need to wear things underneath them and the stuff I have, I’ve been bringing to France for the past how many years and I’ve only just pulled them out of storage so they smell funky too and I’m wondering if the new coats will work as coat dresses and… Faaaark! I just know I’ll be throwing in all my black clothes into my suitcase at the last minute.
And then there’s the matter of Christmas presents for Nicolas’ family and finding a way to make them presentable on Christmas day. I’ll be damned if I can wrap a present or tie a decent ribbon. I’m hoping I can find some nice, fancy gift bags that I can stick things in. They’ll come with a goofily tied ribbon but, hey, ummm…
Annnnywaaaaaay, getting back to the matter at hand, the WOD today was 20 mins., AMRAPS of:
- 10 pull-ups
- 15 hang cleans (95/65)
- 10 back squats (95/65)
- 15 burpees
I only did 45 lbs. Completed 4 sets and did 7 (or was it 9?) hang cleans of the fifth set.
An odd thing I noticed is that my right arm is significantly weaker than my left. That’s strange because I’m right-handed so my right is supposed to be my dominant arm.
During the first set, my right arm faltered and I dropped the barbell in the middle of a clean. For the second set, I used a 35-lb. bar but that was way too light for me so, for the subsequent sets, I went back to the 45-lb. barbell but my right arm was definitely struggling.
Will need to work on strengthening that. Planning on just bringing the Reebok resistance tubes to work out with in France. Doing upright rows with those might help with my cleans and high pulls.
