I seem to be much better at getting to CrossFit if I was out drinking the night before. Although last night was pretty tame. Just a few glasses of wine and maybe five cigarettes the whole day… Was home before 1 AM but had a fitful sleep.
I still made it to the 7:30 AM session. With enough time to do the warm up. (When I’m feeling ragged, I like to get there just as the trainer is giving instructions so that I can skip the damned jump ropes.)
Today’s warm-up was:
- 3 minutes of jump rope
- 20 good mornings
- 20 deadlifts, using a bar
WOD was called McGhee, after a soldier killed in Iraq in 2010. As many reps possible in 30 minutes of the ff:
Pretty easy, this one. I did 19 rounds and finished the deadlifts of the 20th round.
Recommended deadlift weight for women was 155 lbs. or something ridiculous like that. I only lifted 75 lbs. I probably should have gone heavier but those big rubber plates look intimidating. I keep forgetting they’re made of rubber and that they’re in pounds, not kilos.
I tried out the 18" box and could do a jump but decided to take it easy on account of me knee and went with the smaller box. I don’t think my left knee has fully recovered from last week’s squats. Plus, remember that I am doing these nasty jumps barefoot and the box has this textured top that isn’t too kind to bare feet.
