Coach Jordan paired me up with the only other chick in class, Amie.
Amie’s hard core. She’s the one who got me doing single jump ropes. She has her own speed rope and does at least 20 double unders before each CrossFit session. She normally finishes WODs way before anyone else and, if she feels like it, she’ll throw in maybe one or two more rounds. Just because she can.
It’s just her dumb luck that she’s female and got paired with me.
Rules were only one partner on the floor at a time and we could split the WOD any way we wanted. Amie and I agreed to do 50-50.
We got off to a good start with an 80-lb. barbell. Amie did 15 back squats straight, then I did 15 straight, then she did 20 burpees straight, and then I faltered after my 10th burpee.

We kept on, but while Amie was doing her sets without resting, I had to keep breaking mine down. I was still out of breath from the first set of burpees when I was already up for my next set of squats!
I was dying.
For our third set, Amie gave me a break and did 30 burpees instead of 20 so that I only had to do 10. But, by the fourth set, even she was slowing down, so we went back to our 50-50 split.
We went from 80 lbs. to 75 lbs. to 70 lbs. to 65 lbs. with our back squats.
We finished in 16:22 minutes.
I hate squats. But I hate burpees more.
