For Sale: Yoga Books

Once upon a time, when I thought I was interested in yoga, on October 4, 2003 (according to the invoice I found inside the box), I ordered from Amazon the required reading, paid too much for everything, including Philippine taxes, and when the books finally arrived (on November 13, 2003, according to the Customs receipt), I opened the box, closed it, stored it on a high shelf and never looked at it again.

Oh, well, I must have opened the box another time because I did toss in all the free literature that I got at my first Vipassana Meditation course.

Anyway, I have reopened the box and here are its contents:

  • Ashtanga Yoga: The Definitive Step-By-Step Guide to Dynamic Yoga by John Scott (paperback) – $13.27
  • Yoga Mala by Sri K. Pattabhi Jois (paperback) – $11.20
  • Autobiography of a Yogi (paperback) – $6.00
  • The Yoga Sutras of Patanjali (paperback) – $11.17
  • The Yoga Sutras of Patanjali: A New Translation with Commentary – $10.36
  • Ashtanga Yoga: The Practice Manual, An Illustrated Guide to Personal Practice by David Swenson (spiral bound) – $19.96

And I paid P1,234.00 in taxes, which is why I never had books from Amazon shipped directly to me again.

Yes, I am an idiot. I bought two copies of The Yoga Sutras. One for Dumb and the other one for Dumber.

So if you or anyone you know is interested in the books, please send me a message at tangerineskies@gmail.com with an offer for the entire box. It may be a bit dusty.

Oh, except for one of the Ashtanga Yoga books. Please choose which of the two you would like and I will keep the other.

No, I do not expect to get back what I paid – but I’ll take whatever I can get. 😉 At the same time, I really really would like to get rid of this box so please let me know what you are willing to part with for it – in cash or in kind – and we might just have a deal.

FYI, I am throwing in the following at no extra charge. This is a non-negotiable. (I really need to declutter.)

  • Yoga: The Spirit and Practice of Moving into Stillness by Erich Schiffmann (Never used as you can tell from the spine but the book has been sitting out on a shelf, gathering dust for years.)
  • A Manual of Buddhism
  • The Life of the Buddha (Part 1 & 2) by Rev. Siridhamma
  • To Understand Buddhism: The Collected Works of Venerable Master Chin Kung
  • Meditation Now (Inner Peace Through Inner Wisdom) by SN Goenka
  • The Gracious Flow of Dharma by SN Goenka
  • The Art of Living: Vipassana Meditation as taught by SN Goenka by William Hart
  • The Discourse Summaries by SN Goenka
  • Other assorted Vipassana leaflets
  • The Dalai Lama’s Book of Transformation*

*To whomever gave me the Dalai Lama book, er, sorry about that, mate.

I can throw in some vegetarian books as well, if that interests you.
