- Aug 27-30 Manila
- Aug 30-Sept 1 Cebu
- Sept 1 – present Siargao
In the time that I was away, I was going to write about how well I was faring without sugar. There were the occasional lapses but, all in all, I thought that I was doing fine.
Until I realized that I had quit sugar without having said a proper goodbye to Double Stuff Oreos, peanut butter, Carmen’s Best Malted Milk ice cream, cookie dough ice cream, chocolate chip cookies, Cunanan’s ensaymada… Not to mention that last crisp-in-your-throat sip of Coca-Cola. (Regular Coke, please, none of that diet nonsense.)

Lips like sugar.
That wasn’t right.
I decided to allow myself a long drawn out goodbye to all of my favorite sugar-laden food, that would cease and desist once I got back to Siargao.

For most of that time, I have to say that I was pretty reasonable, although my mother might beg to disagree as she found me doubled over in pain, a licked-clean jar of peanut butter nearby. (Peanut butter makes my stomach hurt, but I love it anyway.)

Until I was left unsupervised in Cebu (- Nicolas was in Siargao), with groceries, cafes and restaurants within walking distance from the apartment. I ate anything and everything in sight. I made myself so ill that I couldn’t eat anymore.

Yes, I am disgusting.
So, here I am, back at Square One, with a possibly larger sugar addiction than before. And three kilos to lose.

I may be the world’s No. 1 Underachiever but I sure excel at screwing myself over.

Will restart tomorrow as Nicolas and I have been entertaining non-stop this weekend. He leaves tomorrow and I wish I could say I will live like a hermit until his return. Alas, this week alone, I got one party down, four more to go. And I will be here for seven weeks.
