Siargao Weekend Warrior

Siargao Weekend Warrior

I ran 4.3k yesterday!

Okay, I jogged.

Very slowly.

I had my alarm set for 6 AM to go biking but, again, I hadn’t slept well and only wanted to go back to sleep. I finally roused myself with the thought of going brisk walking instead of biking.

But when I finally got out to the path, it was lined with workers headed in my direction, to report for duty on the construction of the house. I didn’t want to casually saunter past them. So I jogged.

And then I just kept on jogging. Past the workers, past the five-kilometer mark. (Our house is about 150 meters from the five-kilometer mark. Marker Zero is somewhere in GL – that is, General Luna.)

In my head, I kept thinking, “Okay, you can stop now. You don’t run, remember?”

But my body overrode my mind, and I just kept on going. Past the four-kilometer mark, finally turning back at the three-kilometer mark, where I thought I’d finally stop but I still kept on going till I got back to the house.

It’s not something I’d do everyday, but it’s good to know that I can do it after all.

Today, I was going to rest but I decided to, at least, do some kettlebell swings. I ended up doing the following:

3 sets of:

  • A1. Two kettlebell deadlift (16 kilos) – 10 reps
  • A2. Hand-to-hand swing (16 kilos) – 20 reps
  • B. Hammer curl (12 kilos) – 15 reps
  • C1. Tricep overhead extension (2 kilo-dumbbell) – 20 reps
  • C2. Tricep kickback (2 kilo-dumbbell) – 20 reps

Back in Manila tomorrow.
