It’s been 27 hours since we left for the airport in Manila and we are now in Doha where our flight to Paris has been delayed due to engine trouble. (If we do get to leave by 1:30 PM – Qatar time – that would mean we would have stayed a total of 14 hours at the Doha Airport. I’m so happy I could kick a furry animal.)
I am absolutely knackered and have possibly gained two thousand pounds from filling myself with all sorts of crappy airport and airline food. I have bacon cheeseburgers and curly fries coming out of my ears.
I did watch 4.5 films on the flight from Manila (“Colombiana”, “Cowboys and Aliens” – Daniel Craig is possibly the only man alive who can rock that high-waisted look, “Beautiful Boy”, “Trespass” and half of “Flypaper”) and plan to watch at least three more before we get to Paris (I was halfway through “Captain America” before we had to disembark again).
Since this is possibly the last access that I’ll have to WiFi in a while, I thought I’d update you on how Rosan’s did during her last month of Paleo. I finally released her from her Paleo commitment last December 12. Here are her scores for Month 2:
- Week 1 – 44
- Week 2 – 51
- Week 3 – 44
- Week 4 – 49
Total: 188/200 so that’s another bottle of Ketel One that she owes me. Again, she lost points mostly because of alcohol, although she did lose points for not getting enough rest as well.
It still baffles me though how she has hardly lost any weight. She sent me this photo last December 9:

Two months of Paleo has hardly made a dent on Rosan’s weight!
In terms of Paleo goals, however – she wanted to fit back into her skirts, remember? – not only do her skirts fit, they are actually a little bit loose on her now, so she’s quite happy with the results and intends to remain off carbs.
Since being officially off the Paleo Challenge, she has been tempted by a little bit of cake and some grains on separate occasions and suffered stomach cramps for it. I did caution her about re-entry into the normal eating world.
I have to reiterate though that, since she got on the diet, she’s been positively glowing and looks fantastic. She’s gotten lots of compliments so I don’t think we should be obsessing too much about numbers here.
All in all, I think the Challenge went well. She looks great and I get two bottles of vodka out of it.
Cheers!
