Siargao Island
Pfft. So much for my big weekend and the much-agonized over cheat day. In the end – what? – I had a small dark chocolate bar on Friday then went to bed early on account of not having slept the entire day. Then, last night, our big night out got rained out so we ended up having a very civilized and, yes, Paleo-friendly (at least, for me) dinner with the Degans, although Sue and I did drink vodka-watermelons.
I didn’t do any of Miggy’s travel WODs either. Come on! The first one involved riding 1k then doing 50 squats – five times! Like I could do a single air squat in front of them:

I have no idea why kids love me. They’re always staring and smiling. When I used to walk/bike regularly in the morning, they’d line the road, waiting for me to pass by. Sometimes, they’d even follow me. You’d think they’d be able to sense Evil.
That would be a resounding NO.
So I just rode…
And figured out that my route is only about 9 to 10k. (Dang! Must re-edit past posts.) And I wondered if I will ever ride a bike on a non-sandy road. I’ve only ever ridden in Siargao and at Burning Man…

Road repair going on as the sky starts to darken.
Anyway, I didn’t do the WOD today either since I left my shoes outside the room last night and they got wet in the rain.
— What?
Fine, so I started Season 3 of “Breaking Bad” instead of running around barefoot and having to do a total of 120 burpees and 120 kettlebell swings. A much better start to a Sunday, no?
I’m off to watch the rugby with the Aussies at Bones’ Sports Bar over at Cloud 9 (which is really just an excuse for Sue and I to break out the bubbly and get massively irresponsible in the middle of the day). I may have a proper weekend yet. Just got a text. “Champagne is chilling!” I’m on my way!
Update:
Finally had a decent cheat day! No, I didn’t eat anything non-Paleo although I was thisclose to opening a pack of Chippy’s. But I didn’t. As a matter of fact, I fasted. But I did drink. A lot. And I may have had a few cigarettes. Doh!

Bones’ Sports Bar, with very serious Aussies.

The “row of knowledge”. I was told I could ask them anything and they would know the answer. So I asked, “What is the average velocity of an unladen swallow?” and “What are the winning numbers in tomorrow’s lottery?” Apparently, I was supposed to ask rugby -related questions. (Left to right: Mark Robberds, Ashtanga yogi, Gerry Degan, Sagana Resort owner and manager, Glenn Rixon, Sagana chef and Red Horse jockey, and unknown bloke.)

The peanut gallery: Bones and, pro surfer, David Reardon-Smith.
