I get suspicious when Coach Jordan goes easy on the warm-up. It’s the harbinger of a killer WOD to come.
Today’s WOD came in three parts. The first two were easy. The last part, not so much. Some of the guys from the 10:30 AM session hung around to watch us suffer.
Part 1 – Back squats, 3 reps every minute on the minute, for 3 minutes. (My weight: 75 lbs.)
Part 2 – Front squats, 8 reps every minute on the minute, for 4 minutes. (1st set: 55 lbs; subsequent sets: 45 lbs.)
Part 3 – 3 rounds, 4 minutes each round:
- 15 deadlift (My weight: 95 lbs.)
- 400 m. run
- toes to bar or sit-ups – max rep
I managed to do 10 sit-ups during the first round and, like everybody else, nil for the subsequent rounds. I was tempted to knock off some plates from my bar for the deadlifts, so that I could do them faster but my weight was already low as it was so I stuck with it.
I finished the last run just as the last seconds of the set were ticking off. I fought every urge to collapse on the floor, and gulped down the remaining contents of my water bottle. Did I mention that I FUCKING HATE RUNNING? Yeah, well… Fuck.

I was actually good last weeked. Sort of. Only one alcoholic drink: A shot of tequila in a glass of fresh orange juice.
But then, I also had a cheat day. A massive one. And all I can say is that I really love Sebastian’s Peanut Butter Paradise.

I also tried some new flavors. The MacWhite Bar is luciously white-chocolatey rich. (White chocolate is one of my many guilty pleasures and, yes, I know it isn’t chocolate.) The sapin-sapin tastes like a high-end version of “dirty ice cream” (street ice cream). But the big surprise for me was the kamias sorbet. It’s a very refined sorbet, with just the right amount of sweetness and tartness. The perfect palate cleanser after a heavy meal.
Now that I know where they are along Katipunan, I’m having a cheat day every week.
