Holy … That was tough.

I’ve been dreading today. First day in the box after ten days off, with a particularly hard weekend. WOD was 25 minutes of 150 freakin’ squat cleans. Rx for men was 85 lbs. and 65 lbs. for women. But if you’re me, you wuss out after the first few squat cleans and go for the 35-lb. bar.

Even then, I thought I was going to die after the first ten reps. Oh, I forgot to mention that we also had to do three bar-facing burpees at every minute. Good god. If you want to induce a heart attack, do a bar-facing burpee.

RJ got on my case hard. “Shoulders back! Knees out! Elbows up!” I ignored him. It was either listen to him or lose count. Or die. I could feel my weekend trying to back up through my mouth and my nose. I couldn’t breathe.

Even Matt, who was doing Rx in the corner, was struggling. He and RJ had a talk, then RJ lowered the count to from 150 squat cleans to 100. Thankfuck.

I finished at 19:55 and nearly passed out on the floor. The weekend’s excesses were pounding in my head.

The price for slacking off.
