I lazily lay in bed even if the alarm had gone off 15 minutes before. Then I caught myself drifting back to sleep and bolted upright. That’s when I felt the various aches from yesterday’s workout. I ignored them. I only have three days to workout this week and if I stop to dwell on any muscle pain, I might convince myself to skip a day and I can’t afford to miss another workout.
Of course, as soon as I saw the WOD, I wished I had stayed in bed.
Three rounds in 30 minutes of the following:
- 25 front squats
- 50 wall ball sit-ups (If you clicked on that link, the one we do here is similar but our legs are open in front of us in a diamond-shape and our feet aren’t allowed to touch the wall. We also don’t have that device that the guy has to cushion his back.)
- 75 double unders
No freakin’ way. Ugh.
Front squat Rx for women was something insane like 95 lbs. I started off with 45 but my back and legs were buckling so, for the second round, Matt handed me the 35-lb. bar. (I am such a wuss.)
I didn’t even pay attention to the Rx for the medicine ball. I took the lightest one and that was still a killer. Went through it slowly but surely. Matt kept yelling for us to pick up the pace but it wasn’t happening.
It’s a good thing I told Matt that I couldn’t jump rope, let alone do double unders. He substituted it with jumping jacks. 375 of them. That’s a lot of jumpinfreakinjacks. I was so tired that, by the end of each set, I’d lose coordination. If I had to do jump rope, I’m pretty sure I never would have made it to the second round.
None of us finished. Even if Matt gave us extra time. I got up to 92 jumping jacks of the third round. Of course, Matt insisted that we finish so, even if time was up, I hopped around like a rabbit on speed.
Had two hard-boiled eggs when I got home. (I can’t believe I ignored the bacon.) Then I finally sent the maid out for vegetables and fruits and made myself a big pitcher of green smoothies that should last me the whole day.
I need a massage.
