Rosan and I BOTH made it! I must say I had my doubts. Doing anything later than the 4 PM session is pretty much a guarantee that you’ll be tossing and turning, at least, till 1 AM. If you’re me, that’ll be 4 AM. But I actually managed seven hours last night – on account of having only had three hours from the night before – so I woke up this morning, bright and ready for action. (Will push for the additional hour of sleep this afternoon to make those two extra points for Team 1 of the Paleo Challenge!)
WOD was 5 rounds of 4 minute AMRAPs of the following, with 1-minute rests between rounds:
- 10 (5 on each side) spider push-up burpees
- 10 kettlebell swings
- 15 sit-ups (although we don’t have abmats at CrossFit MNL)
Thing is, the rep doesn’t count if you don’t complete all three exercises. Let’s say, during the first round, you did two reps and then got as far as 13 sit-ups on the third rep. That would still only count as two reps. On the next round, you can’t continue where you left off and complete the third rep to make it count. You have to start over with everyone else doing the spider push-up burpees.
So if I had done my sit-ups and still had, say 10 seconds to go on the clock, I didn’t bother starting a new rep because there’s no way I could do all those spider push-up burpees, kettlebell swings and sit-ups within 10 seconds. And that way I got to rest a little bit longer.
One of the easier WODs. Average was two reps per round. Lots of cheating I noticed though.
PS – Rosan signed on for six months.
