Extremely tired today but I’m not sure if that’s because of the detox or because I’ve hardly slept the past two nights. Energy is low, that’s for sure. Also more than a bit grumpy. Nicolas is faring much better (- he’s been very patient with my grumpiness), although he’s been getting headaches. I got a bit dizzy after the coconut water but not for very long.
I managed to exercise though. I only went to two CrossFit sessions last week so, even if I am detoxing this week, I need to make up for all that food and alcohol I consumed pre-detox. I did a beginner’s workout from Sarah Fragoso’s “Everyday Paleo”. Warm-up was five minutes of jogging (I jogged in place in the room), followed by three sets of:
- 10 squats
- 30 second plank
- 10 push-ups
- 1 minute rest
Ending with five more minutes of jogging. I also swam in the pool for about an hour.
Wait, I’m sure all the walking I did at the Sunday Market yesterday counts as exercise, no? The whole “shopping is my cardio” deal? My feet were sore and I needed a massage after so it must count!
Apart from the detox drink, which is made pleasant by the pineapple juice, and the coconut water, everything else we are having, including the supplements, taste rather vile. The dishwater broth is the worst. We’ve decided to have only one a day. It’s absolutely revolting. We both diluted ours with water; and the only way to drink these horrible liquids really is to try to take in as much of it as you can in one go. Otherwise you’ll be gagging on the smell and the taste. Still the smell lingers. In the air, in my clothes, on my hands… Blech.
All in all, though, it wasn’t a bad day. We read a lot and got some rest. Had a nice massage in the evening. Well, Nicolas did. (I always forget how painful traditional Thai massage can be.)
The weather is nice and cool. Wherever it is that we are in Chiang Mai. A bit rainy but that’s to be expected at this time of year. The moon is on the wane but is still looking lovely…
Taking my last supplement and turning in for the night. Goodnight, everyone!
