Kettlebells/Krav Maga, 9 February 2012, 6 to 9 PM

Oops. I forgot to take note of the workout but, if memory serves me right, this is what we did:

I should already increase the weights I’m using (especially for the snatch) but I’ve decided to keep using the same weights this week. This is only my second week back and I do want to be able to get out of bed tomorrow. As it is, I’m pretty much battered and bruised all over.

Also, while I was contemplating increasing my weights this afternoon, oddly enough, I couldn’t get a good grip on the 16-kilo kettlebell, which is why I pyramided down to the 30-pound kettlebell. Although I must say that that was definitely too light for me.

I’ve never felt comfortable doing high-pulls. I find the movement awkward and have difficulty controling the bell, which ends up tilting downwards on the high pull. Will keep working on it, and try the movement with lighter and heavier weights. (Perhaps therein lies the solution.)

For Exercise E, I just did the two-hand swing. Nice and easy. As I said, the 30-pound kettlebell is too light for me so I didn’t even break a sweat. The problem is that we don’t have an 18-kilo bell and going from 16 to 20 kilos might be too much for me at this point.

Fo Krav Maga, we practiced more defenses against knife attacks that you can see coming from a range of about two meters, this time, using kicks to get away from the attacker.
