Now that I’m in Manila – with an internet connection that actually works – I am catching up on various links that I bookmarked from my Facebook newsfeed while I was in Siargao. Here’s my best find: Episode 9 of Oui Surf (c/o Buddha’s Surf Resort’s Ashley Bowling and Drop Inn’s Liam Cox).

My French may be limited to the essential obscenities but it doesn’t take a cunning linguist to figure out what Oui Surf is all about. Oui Surf chronicles the travel adventures of two French surfers around the globe.

Episode 9 features my favorite island: Siargao. Apart from the usual surf videos and one of Ashley’s resort, there are videos of the sunset carabao rides that Drop Inn organizes, as well as the preparation – from selection to consumption – of lechon and, um, fruit bat adobo. Not for the faint of heart, or rabid animal rights activists.
