I have my blood routinely tested. It’s my way of keeping tabs on my health.
For home service, I totally recommend Medex (02 721-3320 or 721-1274). They arrive on time. (I have them come to the house at 7 AM.) Their rates are reasonable. And, yesterday, they emailed me my results on the same day that they drew blood.
Everything was within normal range, except for my cholesterol levels. They were through the roof. As someone who hates grazing, I thought my day of reckoning had finally come.

All that bacon and deep-fried pork bellies had finally caught up with me.

I contemplated juicing all the organic lettuce that I had bought from my friend, Abe. I emailed Asha Peri of Dahon Kusina and ordered everything – EVERYTHING! – on her raw food menu, to be picked up at the Legazpi Sunday Market today.
I also emailed the results to my gynecologist – because she’s the only doctor that I see. Sent her an embarrassed smiley-face note: “Hi Doc! Still haven’t done my mammogram or ultrasound, but I finally got my blood work done. Seems my cholesterol is a bit high…” To my surprise, she emailed me a reply early this morning: “All good, even cholesterol because HDL ratio normal so means you still have high good cholesterol.”
I was over the moon! I cannot tell you how happy I was. And still am! Having high good cholesterol levels means that I must be doing something right!
I still bought all the raw food that I ordered from Asha at the Sunday Market. I even tried the raw quesadilla which, by the way, was very good. And then I had bacon, corned beef and eggs, a cookie dough muffin, and a tub of ice cream.

Seriously. (Adam’s Ice Cream.)
That was before noon today. It’s almost to 8:30 PM and I’m still full from lunch. (And hurting from the goddam lactic acid. Why, God, why???)
The raw food is in the ref and the lettuce has wilted.

Bring on the dead meat, I say.

Awwwwww, poor Bambi… Medium rare, please.
