Private TRX session, 2:15 PM
CrossFit, 4:00 PM
To make up for the work out time I lost at the hospital (oh, yes, we brought my dad back in that night that we had him discharged), today – and tomorrow, if I can move – I did 45 minutes of the private TRX session as a warm-up for CrossFit.
Of course, as soon as I saw today’s WOD, I was tempted to bolt. It was “Fran”. If you’re a Super Freak (and I mean that in the best possible sense), then this is how you might do it:
- 29 thrusters, followed by 29 pull-ups
- 15 thrusters, followed by 15 pull-ups
- 9 thrusters, followed by 9 pull-ups
Of course, if we’re going to be strict about it, the guy in the video shouldn’t be kipping (i.e. using his legs to propel himself into a pull-up) but, hell, I can’t even kip a single pull-up.
Rx for women was 65 lbs. I started out with a 45-lb barbell. I got to 12 reps then dropped the barbell and pyramided down to the 35-lb. bar. With that lame-ass bar, and the green band to assist me in my pull-ups (but with Miggy holding onto my feet so that I wouldn’t kip), I finished at 7:40 minutes.
Since the others were still going, I resumed doing thrusters with the 45-lb. barbell but did only sets of three till time ran out.
