Fuck me. There was a camera crew at the box.
No matter how much of a wuss I am, when I work out, I mean business. No one can even talk to me when I do my 20 laps in Siargao. When I work out in Manila, I wear a bandana to keep the hair away from my face. I wear the most comfortable clothes I can find, even if that means shirts that are falling apart and ratty, old shorts. In other words, I I look like shit. I never understood those girls who show up at gyms wearing make-up and pearls.
Sometimes, it occurs to me that I should make a bit of an effort, especially when I found out that an ex-fling was going to the same gym I used to work out at, or when I started getting to know my fellow CrossFitters. In the end though, I really can’t be bothered. I’ll end up looking like shit anyway.
But when I look like shit, the last thing I want is have my picture taken or a have a video crew around. Especially when I’m still hacking away like I’m trying to exorcise a demon from my throat.
Yeah, that cough is still there. It’s disgusting. It’s a dry cough that sounds like it shouldn’t be. And it’s now made the list of “Things That Keep Me Up At Night”.
Ah, well. “I’m ready for my close-up, Mr. Demille…”
It’s a good thing today’s WOD wasn’t so bad.
A. 15 minutes, front squats, 1 x 5, work to a heavy single. (My max was 70 lbs.)
B. 10 minutes, every minute on the minute, 1 clean and jerk. (My max was 55 lbs.)
I’m glad that the WOD today was about strength, and not cardio. Exactly what I need on ketosis. Because I really shouldn’t lose any more weight. The key to rapid weight loss? Ketosis and cardio, CrossFit-style.

Let’s see… I didn’t weigh myself on the first day because I was too afraid to, but my guess was that it was somewhere around 55 to 56 kilos. By the next day, I was at 54-something. Wednesday, 53-something. Yesterday, I was at 52.8. (That was after only two CrossFit sessions and one salsa lesson!) I’ve been dropping almost a kilo a day! Well, except for today (- I’m back to 53-something), because I had a big Chinese meal last night that may have featured some battered stuff and some sugar or honey or some such similar evil in the food. But 53-something is fine with me. Now, all I have to do is maintain it.
Like that’s the easiest thing to do in the world.
Well, I need to add more carbs to my diet, for sure, and that would be in the form of vegetables. I certainly don’t want to stress about every bit of tomato or onion that makes its way into my food. I’d like to hold off on fruit for as long as I can, but I’m not sure if I can for long. That mango tonight looked really good… I really should start having at least a sliver of it a day.
I have yet to read if Cheat Meals/Days are recommended on ketosis. If they are, I’m looking at Sunday dinner. Unless the battered stuff at last night’s dinner is considered a cheat. Oh, and I had spring rolls tonight. Doh! I really must stay away from Chinese food…
