Team 3 was in da box!
Of course, while I was chatting with Jaloy in the unisex changing room, he told me why he wanted to win the Paleo Challenge so badly. Mmhmm. And then he gave a small whoop when he found out I didn’t cheat yesterday and scored 15 points.
I wonder if Jaloy takes lessons in emotional blackmail. If he’s a natural, he’s good. He’s very good. (Am kidding, Jaloy. Yes, let’s kick some caveman butt!)
Warm-up today was:
- 300 m. row
- 20 good mornings
- 20 pass throughs
- 20 wall slides
- 20 walking lunges
- 20 leg kicks
WOD, for time:
- 400 m. run
- 21 deadlifts
- 21 handstand push-ups
- 400 m. run
- 15 deadlifts
- 15 handstand push-ups
- 400 m. run
- 9 deadlifts
- 9 handstand push-ups
Rx for women for the deadlifts was 155 lbs. I first tried 125 lbs. No can do. While I could deadlift 105 lbs., I knew form would be quickly tossed out the window before I could even do ten reps so I finally settled for 85 lbs.
Handstand push-ups? You’re kidding, right? It’s a good thing RJ and AA (my other Paleo Challenge teammate who, when he saw me, yelled “Stop cheating!”) gave us a lot of variations. In the end, RJ just let me do 30-second holds similar to downward dog.

Downward dog. (Internet file photo.)
I finished in 14:46 minutes.
The sky finally cleared but, damn, it was hot outside. I’m only starting to cool down now.
