I woke up today feeling a tad better. I hadn’t overslept as I had the past few days. Anything more than four to six hours drains me more than if I hadn’t slept at all. Recovering from the weekend was a bitch so I had to (yes, I absolutely had to) make an exemption from my Paleo diet for dark chocolate. I needed to get my blood sugar up. I also had a lot of fruits.
So this morning, after a fitful night, I felt almost normal.
Almost.
Of course, as soon as I was headed for the gym, I started feeling ill all over again.
I arrived early and took it easy. Did the 500 m. row and still finished at a shit 2:30. (ARGH!) I also did 15 reps of good mornings, high-pulls with a 25-lb. bar, wall-facing squats and push-ups.
WOD today was KB Tabata:
Eight 20-second sets of EACH exercise with 10 seconds rest in between each set, with 30 seconds rest between each exercise.
- kettlebell hand-to-hand swings (Rx: 16 kg.) – 11
- burpee to kettlebell sumo deadlift high pull (Rx: 16 kg.) – 4
- kettlebell Russian twist (Rx: 12 kg.) – 9
- kettlebell deadlift to goblet squat (Rx: 12 kg.) – 3
- kettlebell step-up, which was similar to this but using only one kettlebell, lifting it overhead by the horns on the step up and back down to the chest on the step down (Rx: 12 kg.) – 4
If 20 seconds doesn’t sound like a lot of time to you, trust me, when you’re on your sixth set, and can barely swing a 16-kg. kettlebell , the buzzer can’t sound soon enough. And the 10 second rest seems even shorter. I went with Rx but, as you can see from my lowest scores on the left, I was totally wiped out.
