Last week’s workout:
Monday, Tuesday, Friday – Kettlebells and Krav Maga (6 to 9 PM).
I am continuing to use the 28-kilo kettlebell for double-hand swings, but only if the reps are low (usually, no higher than 10). Although, last Friday, for the first time, I did all sets of 1o, 15 and 20 reps using the 28-kilo bell.
Normally, for 20 reps and above, depending on how I am feeling, I opt for the 20 or 24-kilo kettlebell.
I’m hoping to build up enough stamina with the 28.
For the rest, I’m still shit. Upper body strength is still at 6 (chest presses) to 8 (windmills, Turkish get-ups) to 10 (push jerks, snatches) to 12 kilos (cleans).
Then again, I’m training with men and their objective is to bulk up, hence the heavy weights and low reps. Which is not MY objective at all.
When I was watching myself in the mirror doing a deadlift to upright row using a 30-lb. kettlebell (- that’s not heavy at all), I could see the muscles in my arms working and I almost freaked out. I don’t want to turn into the Hulk here! So I’m not really sure that I want to get strong. I’ve seen the strong girls over at CrossFit, and they’re scary muscular. That doesn’t really appeal to me. I think I’d rather have stamina than strength, which is why I am considering going back to CrossFit after my six months of kettlebells and Krav Maga are done. Maybe doing ridiculous reps with lighter weights is more for me.
We’ll see…
So far, I still enjoy hanging out with the boys and engaging in self-torture with them.
In the meantime, here are some cool pix from one of last week’s Krav Maga sessions:

Fred threatens Bjorn with a gun.

In an instant, Bjorn disarms Fred.

Then Bjorn shows us how he did it, this time in slow-motion. Damned cool stuff!
